Empties #1

Hi, loves!

I think it’s time I write my first ’empties’ post, don’t you? I absolutely love reading these posts as someone using the full product means they’ve had a lot of experience with the product, as well as a time of time to decide whether they like it or not. Not to mention how satisfying it is to see a product fully used up! So, here’s my empties:

Lush ‘Rosy Cheeks’ Face Mask: This face mask will always have a special place in my heart as it’s the first one I tried from Lush (now my favourite face mask brand – I haven’t tried their other skin care yet, but I need to!) This face mask left my skin with a lovely glow and evened out my skin tone nicely. It isn’t a revolutionary mask or anything, but it is nice to use every now and then as it leaves your skin feeling super soft. I’ve now found better masks from Lush (such as the Mask of Magnaminty) so I won’t be repurchasing this one any time soon, but it is decent mask! Does anyone have any recommendations what other skin care I should try from Lush? Let me know down in the comments.

Lush ‘Prince of Darkness’ Face Mask: Another face mask I completely used up from Lush was the Prince of Darkness. This mask is absolutely amazing for giving your skin that deep exfoliation we all crave and need sometimes, along with leaving the skin soft and supple after washing off. I would 100% repurchase this product as it really did wonders for my skin. It’s also super handy that once you’ve used up 5 Lush face mask pots, you can get a face mask for free by handing in your 5 empty ones at any Lush store! Good for the environment and saves you some pennies – I’m definitely not complaining.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Argan Richness Hair Mask: I received this hair mask as a Christmas present back in December. Unfortunately the brand Garnier isn’t cruelty free, so I’ve had to use this up (so it doesn’t go to waste) and am now unable to purchase another one. The mask did a great job at nourishing my hair and leaving it soft and relatively shiny, but I wouldn’t say it was a miracle worker. It wasn’t anything special, and I’ve definitely tried better masks out there. It is a decent mask for the price though. Garnier do some of my favourite hair care, it’s just a massive shame they haven’t taken the ethical leap and become cruelty free. Hopefully they will do soon – that would be amazing!

Huda Beauty ‘Faux Filter’ Foundation: This foundation is £32, which definitely isn’t cheap. However, it’s also not as expensive as some other high end foundations that aren’t as full coverage, so in that respect you’re getting a pretty good deal if you’re into your full coverage, high end foundations. I know I am! This brand is also cruelty free, which is amazing and leaves me respecting the brand 100%. When I tell you this foundation is full coverage, I mean FULL COVERAGE. I can’t believe how good this foundation is at hiding my freckles, as barely any foundations do that – even more expensive ones that claim to be more full coverage than the Huda Beauty one. I don’t find it to be cakey or too thick when applying either. I really enjoyed this foundation and may repurchase in the future at some point after trying some different ones.

Pixi ‘Glow Tonic’: This product is one of the best one’s I’ve tried throughout 2019, and I’ve tried a lot of new products this year! I only tried the mini version as the regular version is quite expensive, so I wanted to try it out first to see if it’s worth it (spoiler: it’s definitely worth it.) This did such an amazing job at getting rid of my spots quicker than any other product I’ve tried, which I think is down to the 5% Glycolic Acid. I didn’t notice it made my skin much glowier at first, but after using it every single day for around 2 weeks I definitely noticed a difference by the end of it. As soon as pay day comes around, I’m definitely repurchasing this product. I honestly believe it’s a must have in your skin care collection.

Urban Decay ‘All Nighter’ setting spray: I remember using this a face years ago and thinking it was okay, but never using it again after that as I simply couldn’t afford the repurchase. However, this May I found myself on the plane back to Amsterdam flicking through the beauty products in the Easy Jet magazine when I found the Urban Decay Setting Spray mini version for around £8. I couldn’t say no to such a hyped up product for such a good price, even if it was only the mini version. Let me tell you, I will 100% be repurchasing this in the full version ASAP. I don’t know if they’ve reformulated in the past few years (does anyone know?) but it works SO much better on me than it used to! It used to be good, but not THIS good.. I honestly notice a difference when I don’t wear it. It’s now an essential product in my beauty routine, no matter where I go. It keeps my makeup on all night and day, which is exactly what it’s supposed to do. 10/10 product that you need to get your hands on!

The Body Shop ‘Fuji Green Tea’ Shower Body Wash: This was only a mini bottle so it didn’t take long at all for me to use up. This product smells really lovely for an every day, gentle body wash. However, it’s a pretty standard product. I’ve definitely used better body washes from The Body Shop that are way more luxurious and moisturising. However, as I said, it is decent for standard every-day use.

Soap&Glory ‘The Scrub of Your Life’ Body Exfoliator: This is a body exfoliator I’ve been using for around 2 years now, as it’s definitely the best one I’ve found. It’s amazing at almost effortlessly removing dead skin or fake tan, and it especially fab to use after shaving your legs as it prevents ingrown hairs. It smells absolutely amazing too. I already have another 2 lined up – oops!

And that’s it for my first empties post! Is there any products I’ve mentioned that you loved? Or any you didn’t get on with so much? Let me know down in the comments. It’s so interesting how some products work well for some people and not as well for others!

Lots of love,

Soph. xx

  1. Fab post doll. I’ve been meaning to try out Lush skincare for ages. I’m big into face masks so I must give theirs a go sometime.

  2. I love Soap & Glory for body products. I’m the exact same as well, always have a couple of my favourites lined up for when they run out. If you’re looking for alternative CF haircare that isn’t crazy expensive, try Palmer’s. They have some really great masks/ deep conditioners x

  3. This is a great idea for a blog post. I love soap and glory and have been meaning to try out a few of the Lush products but just haven’t got around to it. Will definitely have to add these to my list! x

  4. I love Lush products – though I mainly use their dream cream moisturiser as it’s so nice and doesn’t make your skin feel too sticky and it’s not too heavy to use. But I do like the rosy cheeks facemasks alongside the oatmeal one.

    1. I’ve been meaning to try a Lush moisturiser! I want to try one of their facial toners too, they’re so expensive though which is a shame. I guess you get what you pay for though, because Lush’s quality of their products is amazing. The Oatmeal mask is one I want to try next, alongside the coffee one. x

      1. I would definitely recommend their Dream Cream moisturiser! A big tub lasts me for so long and honestly makes my skin feel refreshed.

  5. I love Lush and using face masks so I’m surprised I haven’t tried their skin care products! My skin is fairly dry so the ‘Prince of Darkness sounds like it would be a good fit! Thanks for sharing. 🙂 I love posts like this.
